**********
Yaoi- This is a term to commonly describe male on male relationships of a sexual
nature. The word itself implies that there will be sex of some sort in the story.
Shounen ai- This is the same thing as yaoi, except it's watered down. Shounen ai
involves male on male love and relationships. And though it does sometimes include light sex, it's usually pretty clean.
PWP- A story with no real plot that focuses around sex. It's short for "Plot? What
Plot?" Basically, it's porn. XD But that doesn't mean it has to be dull or overdone. There's still plenty you can do with
a PWP- trust me. ^_~
One Shot- This is a story that is done in one long installment. It ends all at once
with out additional chapters. Much like a PWP. But unlike a PWP it does have a plot, and may or may not include sex.
Chapter Fic- This is similar to a one shot in that it's a story, with plot, that
may or may not include sex. The difference here is that it's released in chapters, rather than one installment.
Song Fic- This is a story that is written to the lyrics of a certain song. The song
my describe the mood as the story goes along, or even the actions of the characters.
Fluff- This is a word to describe sweet, tooth rotting romance. It implies cuddling
and all that lovey dovey stuff.
Sap- Same thing, but more of a general attitude. While fluff implies cuddling and
other cutsey things, sap is leaning more toward the cheesy romance side.
Angst- This implies either an emotionally difficult situation, or a lot of sexual
tension. It could be the whole "I like him, but he doesn't like me, but maybe he does- but he wants to believe he's straight"
thing, or it could just be a large amount of stress and fighting, etc.
H/C- This is short for "Hurt/Comfort" meaning one person goes through a traumatic
experience (ie- tragedy, loss of a loved one, abuse, non-con, kidnapping- anything) and another person comforts them. Generally
this one will lead to hot lovin'.
Shota- This is yaoi with a twist. It involves at least one minor. The exact definition
is debatable, but generally speaking, it means a grown man (18 and older) will be having sexual relations with a male under
16. It also applies to two underaged boys in a sexual situation, and doesn't always have to involve an adult.
Non-con- This is a nicer way of saying rape. It's short for non-consensual sex.
If this bothers you, be careful. This site does contain fictions involving non-con, but they are clearly marked.
BDSM- BDSM is an abbreviation, but it can stand for a few things. Bondage, Discipline,
Sadomasochism, as well as Slave and Master. This is your kinky sex. It can involve pain and humiliation- or simply dominance
and submission. It varies.
S/M- For this site, it means Slave and Master. That can be a couple playing as slave
and master, or a person truly being sold into slavery. It's usually pretty obvious which it will be depending on the summary.
Bondage- Goes hand in hand with BDSM, but on its own it doesn't entail all of the
dark stuff. It can be rather light actually and involve anything from being tied to a bed, to being handcuffed.
Crossdress- Most people know what this means, but just in case- for this site's
purposes and most yaoi sites, the warning refers to a boy dressed as a girl. That can be anything from a male in a skirt,
a guy completely in drag, or the neighbor in full Martha Stewart garb.
Snuff- Snuff refers to non-consensual sex, that results in the death of the person
being attacked. Though there won't be any of that here, most likely, it's still good to know.
(these two won't be as common on the site, but they still may come up now and then)
Het- Sexual or romantic relationships between a man and a woman. Short for heterosexual.
Yuri- Sexual or romantic relationships between two women. The female form of yaoi.
Shoujo ai is generally the cleaner version, but it isn't used nearly as often as the former.
